Psychology is part of the Social Sciences department which also includes, Geography, Economics, Health & Social Care, and Early Child Development.
We currently offer A level Psychology, with Forensic Psychology enrichment. The Social Sciences Department is one of the largest in the College and has had notable success in attracting and retaining students. Psychology is a popular course and at present there are 381 students following the syllabus. Student success rates in examinations are very good.
The Department has a strong reputation for being supportive and welcoming. New colleagues receive practical assistance with books, teaching resources and any other support they may need. Staff work closely together to plan schemes of work, share resources and exchange good practice. The Department also maintains strong links with local schools and employers. Courses are well resourced and taught in large, dedicated teaching rooms. Innovative approaches to teaching and learning are welcomed and supported.
We aim to build constructive and supportive relationships with our students. In keeping with Queen Mary’s tradition, staff and students are on first-name terms. Teachers are committed to providing a high level of support and give generously of their time to help students succeed.
